Record cruise ship season in Halifax, says port authority

 A record number of cruise ship passengers arrived in Halifax during the 2017 cruise season, according to data collected by Halifax Port Authority.
The cruise season in Halifax typically runs from mid-April to the end of October.
A total of 292,722 passengers on 173 cruise vessels landed in Halifax during the season this year, the port authority indicated in a news release, which makes 2017 the busiest cruise year for the Port of Halifax.
This year’s passenger numbers represented a 23 per cent increase over the previous record for the port and the number of cruise vessels landing in Halifax was up 27 per cent.
