Holiday Schedule
The Halifax Employers Association provides a comprehensive holiday schedule to ensure members are informed of public holidays and operational adjustments at the Port of Halifax. This schedule includes details on statutory holidays and special observances, helping employers and employees plan accordingly. Please refer to the schedule for specific dates and any applicable provisions.

No work to be performed from 12h00 on December 24 until 18h00 on Boxing Day (Dec. 26). Notwithstanding the above, on December 26th, Boxing Day, when a ship(s) is alongside and working, work may commence at 08h00 or 13h00 (07h00 in the case of flex time starts and sift work) and shall be paid at double the rates shown for Holidays in the appended schedules. In addition, emergency work and lines may be performed during the no work period and the rates of pay shall be double the rates for Holidays, to a maximum of six (6) times the basic wage rate. The only exception is Boxing Day. Any work performed on Boxing Day must be paid at double the rates shown for holidays in the appended schedule.

The no-work premium shall apply to work between 07h00 and 08h00 on 2 January.

On Labour Day the Holiday Monday pay rate commences at 00h01. The no work period shall be from 08h00 on Labour Day until 08h00 the day following, (07h00 for lines, flex-time starts, and shift work) and the rates of pay for emergency work and lines during this no work period shall be double the rates for Holidays, to a maximum of six (6) times the basic wage rate, except for lineswork at 07h00 on the day following Labour Day.
